Fresh spearmint tea is very refreshing. It is best made with leaves taken from the garden, as the fresher they are, the more flavor they will impart to the tea.
Ingredients
- Spearmint leaves, a generous handful
- 1 1/4 pints water
- Sweetener of choice (optional)
Steps
- Pour 1 1/4 pints of water into a large saucepan.
- Rinse the spearmint leaves before adding to the saucepan.
- Cook slowly on a low heat, allow the water to simmer.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat after roughly 10 minutes
- Pour the contents of the saucepan into a large jug using a sieve to catch the spearmint leaves, throw away the spearmint leaves.
- Leave to cool slightly before serving.
Tips
- You can add extra flavouring of your choice, (white or brown sugar, honey, sweet cream or milk).
- The longer you cook the saucepan contents, the stronger the flavour.
